Something for a non-human

My good deed for today hasn't been for a human. In fact i have made the cat from next door very very happy indeed (i'm sure if he could smile he'd be beaming from whisker to whisker!). The sun is roasting today and poor old Jasper has been collapsed on the patio for most of it, suffering from heat exhaustion. Even a saucer of milk couldn't raise him. So, upon eating some vanilla ice cream, i wondered if he'd enjoy a scoop. Tip - cats LOVE vanilla ice cream.

Soup soup, glorious soup

i've just got back from the old boy down the road. Whilst making some soup for my lunch, i struck a brainwave that i could make Ted happy if i doubled up and took him a portion, which he duly ate whilst i chatted and had a cup of tea. I'm not sure whether the soup or the company mean more to him but either way i think i made his day. (it was delicious soup as well, even if i do say so myself!)

Ouch...

I type this having just had a root canal filling on my teeth. Any of you who have had one will appreciate i'm feeling a litle delicate. However in accordance with my pledge to make someone's day, i bought my dentist a bunch of flowers. He looked very shocked and said he wasn't used to people thanking him for drilling their teeth. He did smile, so mission accomplished!

Today is Sunday...

...and i haven't left the house apart form to buy the papers. So, my good deed for the day has been confined to making my housemate dinner. Even the smallest things can make people feel good. I'm quite dissapointed that nobody out there has decided to join my crusade. Come on people...join me in making people smile!

I've made an old man (and his daughter) very happy

Its only midday and already i've made someone very happy. On queuing at Euston to get my train ticket, the old man in front of me was stuck because he didn't have enough cash to buy a ticket on the fast train (he was going to visit his daughter in birmingham as it turned out). His only other option was to get the slow train which would have taken him 2 hours. So i donated him the extra £3 he needed and he is now probably sat on the 'Virgin' train, hurtling towards birmingham in half the time. I briefly told him about my new blog and the reason for my kindness and he agreed it was a good thing. He promised that he would buy some flowers for his daughter on the way home. So, i'm happy, he's happy (he bounced through the ticket barriers with quite a spring!) and his daughter will soon be happy. Hooray!

Cakes make people smile

My first act of kindness has been to buy a big box of cakes for all the people in my office. The silence and tapping of keyboards has been broken, and people are chatting, laughing and wiping sugar off their lips. Wow, i feel good - I could get used to making people happy.

Lets Begin...

Ok, so here goes. This is where my crusade to make the world a better place begins. Every single day, I am going to make someone's day by doing something nice for them. I'm not too sure how long i'll be able to keep it up, but i'm sure as hell going to give it my best.

I hope you will join me. Between us all i'm sure we can create a community of do-gooders to make the world a better place.
